Everyday Vintage
This is the section of things made not for a display case but for use: boxes, cigarette cases, inkstands, cameras, lighters, records, desk oddments. They convey the daily life of their period better than anything else, precisely because they were used rather than preserved.
People buy vintage for two different reasons. The first is memory: an object from childhood or from a parents' home that one wants back. The second is interior: a single well-chosen piece on a shelf brings a room to life faster than a whole cabinet of antiques.
Condition is judged more gently here than in the collectors' sections. Wear, marks of use and patina are age rather than damage in everyday vintage. What matters more is whether the mechanism works, if there is one, and whether the object is structurally sound.
Sellers state this in the description. If something matters particularly to you, ask directly from the item page.
